this was one of my faves back in the day. i remember fighting it with the slag wurm. ah, how stupid me and my friends were, not even understanding the difference between a spell and a creature in play.
I think this is one of the best Magic arts . Sadly, in the final card we can't see the little ants generated by the hive. I think that one of the greater faults of Magic cards is that the art is wider than high: this caused the elimination of the lower part of the illustration, wich is DEFINITELY better when seen entirely.
Whoa, I love the card and I love the bugs in the front, it's such a shame that didn't make it on the card. I never knew it used to be this high but I'm really glad I've seen it now They should print this card as textless promo some time
Well, that's largely my fault. I fell in love with my composition and this is NOT the ratio for Magic cards. Nobody at WOTC's end caught this in time for me to make changes. As a card it doesn't work well.
The contrast on the living hive could be a bit lower, so as to imply atmospheric perspective and push it further into the background, but this piece is awesome just the same. I really like the design of the bugs.
Wow, that's actually one of my all-time favourite MTG card and I get to find it here, mwuahaha
I think it's an amazing work. I love how it looks like an oil pastel drawing to me even though it's digital. And these swirlies in the sky look awesome, they fill up the empty space. I'm not good at critiques or helpful comments but I just thought I'd let you know that I really love this work, one of my all time favourites
