Don't eat me? by Fyreant Don't eat me? by Fyreant
This is one illustration of a pair done for Dragon Magazine, way back in the day. It was for an article that showcased a mess of new monsters for the Underdark, including a Drider God (pictured here, getting ready to chow down on one of its' worshippers).

Drawn by hand, then finished in Painter 6, starting with the watercolor tools and finishing in "oils".

I've never seen cgi look so much like real paint before. I'd have sworn this was all brushes & paper.

Wicked. I like the intense, toxic colors.

And the fact that drider is now in the skin of his prey.

Awwww sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet. The dynamism is EPIC! Underdark? Like Neverwinter Night's expansion? Or a different Underdark? Hehe cool!

That looks exceptional. I'm enamored with the look of this technique!

And I bet now you're wishing you could put exclamation points in deviation titles.

Oooh wow. This is delightfully creepy (I'm arachnophobic). The composition is just stunning. I love the way you made the intense scale of the larger spider creature by fading it out. And the orange-green/blue combo works amazingly well. It's very eye-catching. Wonderful stuff!!!

Awesooome. That is a big bug. I like the monster design and how they fade away near the bottom, although it took me a second to figure out that guy was getting eaten by the spider and it wasn't a drider or something...

Ooooh. I really like the silhouetting and the breaking of the frame in this one.
